Privacy Policy

The short version: I collect as little about you as I can. If you write to me, I get your name, email and message so I can reply. I don’t sell or share your information, I don’t run ads, and I don’t send newsletters you didn’t ask for.

Who this policy covers

This policy applies to Best Induction Cooktop Guide at bestinductioncooktopguide.com (“the site”, “I”, “me”), run by Sarah Simon in Tampa, Florida, United States. It explains what information is collected when you visit, how it’s used and the choices you have.

Information you give me

When you use the contact form, I receive your name, email address and message by email. I use them only to read and answer your message. I don’t add you to a mailing list, and I don’t share your message with anyone without asking you first. Messages are kept in my email inbox for as long as they’re useful for answering follow-up questions, then deleted.

Information collected automatically

Like almost every website, the server that hosts this site (DreamHost, in the United States) keeps standard access logs. They can include your IP address, browser type, the page you visited, the page that sent you here and the time of your visit. These logs are used to keep the site secure and running, and they’re deleted on the host’s normal schedule.

Cookies

The site itself doesn’t set advertising or tracking cookies for visitors. WordPress sets a few cookies only if you log in to the site’s dashboard, which ordinary readers never do.

If I add a privacy-friendly analytics tool, such as Google Analytics, to understand which guides are useful, I’ll update this page first and explain what it collects and how to opt out.

Affiliate links and other sites

When you click an affiliate link, such as a “Shop now” button that goes to Amazon, the store may set its own cookies to record that you came from this site. That’s how the store knows to pay a commission. Once you leave this site, the store’s own privacy policy applies. See my disclosure for how affiliate links work.

Articles also link to other sites, such as manufacturers, ENERGY STAR and government pages. I’m not responsible for how those sites handle your information.

How your information is protected

The whole site runs over HTTPS, so information you send through the contact form is encrypted on its way to me. Access to the site’s dashboard and my inbox is limited to me.

Your choices and rights

  • You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time.
  • You can ask me what information I hold about you from a message you sent, ask me to correct it or ask me to delete it. Use the contact form and I’ll reply within 30 days.
  • If you live in a state or country with its own privacy law, such as California or the European Union, you have those rights too, and I’ll honor them the same way.
  • I don’t sell or share personal information, so there’s nothing to opt out of.

Children

This site is written for adults. It doesn’t knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you think a child has sent me a message, let me know and I’ll delete it.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, I’ll update this page and the “Last updated” date at the bottom.
